The Best Cooking & Baking Shows on Netflix

While television can often get quite toxic, cooking shows are perhaps the most wholesome source of entertainment that you can find on the internet overall. Netflix is an excellent source of cooking shows, as it offers you a vast selection to choose from, and to top it all off, it helps you watch your favorite TV shows without any commercial interruptions. I decided to dive headfirst to find the best cooking & baking on Netflix. Here are some of the great shows I found:

#8 Good Eats

A lot of people seem to think that cooking shows are rather boring. This misconception will be completely dismantled upon seeing Good Eats. Host Alton Brown’s distinctly odd but always hilarious sense of humor provides the perfect backdrop for the fantastic recipes he provides. Alton’s knowledge of culinary science belies his screwball nature and makes it so that you would unsuspectingly acquire far more information than you had expected about cooking in general. Suffice it to say that watching this show is going to be an experience that is educational, rewarding and, above all else, entertaining.

#7 Worst Cooks in America

While this is perhaps not the best show if you want to be able to learn as much as possible about cooking, it is important to note that this show is actually very entertaining indeed. Watching people fail is the sort of thing that everyone would love to do more or less, so if you want to ensure that you have a good time, you should check this out. The format of the show involves getting some terrible cooks, putting them in a room together and then just watching the magic happen. Watching this show is an utterly hilarious experience!

#6 Cutthroat Kitchen

There is nothing quite like watching skilled people do their thing in the kitchen. Cutthroat Kitchen allows you to do just that but with an added twist. Now, these fantastic cooks are going to have to complete every cooking challenge with some kind of added element, such as being tied to one another or not being able to use a specific cooking utensil. This makes the show a lot zanier and crazier, and it also helps that seminal TV cook Alton Brown is able to bring the whole thing together in such an incredibly entertaining way!

#5 Cooked

While it can certainly be argued that this show is more of a documentary than anything else, it is important to note that if you want to learn as much pertinent information about cooking as possible you are going to have to watch this documentary which describes the cultural histories of a variety of different cuisines, each of which is incredibly intriguing in its own right. You might not agree with all of the information presented in this documentary, but it is certainly worth giving a shot if you want to make the most of your cooking experiences.

#4 Kitchen Nightmares

You can’t have a list of cooking shows without throwing some Gordon Ramsay into the mix. This show is another one of Ramsay’s multiple successes, with the format consisting of the celebrity chef heading to not very well known hotels and restaurants and finding out what is wrong with them. The results are often hilarious, with Ramsay’s notoriously foul mouth coming into play quite a few times. One of the primary reasons why this show is so great is because it allows you to watch these restaurants improve and become utterly amazing in the long run!

#3 Iron Chef America

This is one of the best cooking game shows in America simply because it has been around for such a long time. The format involves chefs having to prepare the best meal possible all while incorporating a secret ingredient that is only revealed to them when the contest begins. This show is pretty fast paced and has a lot of entertainment value. It is also important to note that this show has a time-honored tradition of providing top-notch entertainment so you can rest assured that you will be getting a good experience while watching it.

#2 Chef’s Table

It can often get stressful to witness so many people competing in every single cooking show. This is why Chef’s Table is going to provide you with a very welcome change of pace, one that would enable you to make the most of your viewing experience. This show is a Netflix original, and the content provider is well known for focusing heavily on the quality of its own content.  This series allows you to see some already established chefs in their elements. You get to understand the thought process behind the various dishes that they cook, and you also get to see their journey regarding how they transformed from who they initially were to who they are now. This series is a poignant look behind the scenes of the often chaotic world of fine dining and haute cuisine.

#1 Chopped

This show is one of the greatest cooking shows in the world. It brings together some of the most entertaining aspects of cooking in the best way possible. You get to watch some truly delicious food being prepared all while getting to know the stories behind each dish, and the way the show’s competitive elements are structured makes it so that you would become quite invested in how the competition is progressing.

Another important thing to note is that this show, in particular, has been quite influential on a number of other shows on this list as well as cooking competitions in general, so if you want to be able to make sure that you make the most of your cooking show experience it is highly recommended that you check this show out. After all, it’s easy when you have a service like Netflix to help you out and give you a superior viewing experience.
